Abstract

This article examines the psychophysiological mechanisms of motor control in pianists’ hand movements in the context of integrative neural information processing. Particular attention is paid to polycomyloids as functional structures of axon terminal interactions that ensure the synchronous integration of sensorimotor signals during the performance of complex polyphonic movements. Their differences from classical synaptic connections and their putative role in the development of high-precision motor skills are analyzed. The psychophysiological mechanisms of motor control of pianists’ hand movements go beyond the classical synaptic model of neural transmission.
